In this new day and age, there is a lot of people who have decided to get up with the times and pull out the old eight track player that they have in their car and upgrade to a new car audio CD player. Of course this means that you now have a whole field of choices to make and that can be tricky. The number of brands and types of car audio CD players is great and that can mean that a lot of people will get a little confused when you consider all that there is too look at.

The newer car audio CD players are some of the finest machines ever built. With the capabilities to withstand pretty much anything, they are certainly the choice of most sound system enthusiasts today. In days past, car audio CD players were somewhat unreliable to say the least. The amount of skipping that was present made it so owning a car audio CD player was not all that worth the expense. This was back when the technology was still fairly new and only those with a pocketful of extra cash could afford a car audio CD player. Of course things have changed since then as they always do. Car audio CD players have become far more affordable and are now the norm for even the stock car radios that auto manufacturers to put into the new vehicles that are rolling off the line.

There are two basic types of car CD players. The first being the single disk unit. With this type, you install the entire unit in the dash like you would any car radio. This type will play only one CD at time. Of course this means very little as you can only listen to one disc at a time. Most people who are in the market for a car stereo CD player choose this type. They are economical and quite good as for the sound quality and make of the radio itself. Most of the major brands of audio make a single disc car audio CD player so there is no shortage of choices. Detachable faces are common with this type of car audio CD player which can give you an added level of security when it comes to the amount of money that you spend on the system.

The other type is the multi-disc car audio CD player. With this type you can load a number of discs into the unit and then shuffle between them without having to take the discs out. This type of car audio CD player has become quite popular especially with those who are very fond of a mixture of many types or artists of music. For this type you generally buy the unit separately from the main unit and it hooks in and then resides at a location somewhere away from the dash. The most common place to mount this type is in the trunk. This is done to add security as it is harder to get into the trunk and also to save space as these CD player types can be quite large depending on the amount of discs that it can hold.
