Discount Car Audio
2007
The endeavor of purchasing a car sound system can be extremely overwhelming and complex. For the average consumer budget is everything. Consumers want to have a high end car audio system at discount car audio system prices. Many people believer that more expensive means better but that is simply not true with car audio systems. There are several easy steps that will allow you to buy the best car audio system within your price range without having to buy low end discount car audio components.
The first step is to figure out what you need from your car sound system. Some people find it necessary to have a huge bass, some people seek to have a dream system, and some people want only to upgrade their factory equipment that came with the car originally. The low end is the installation of a basic stereo, basically an AM / FM radio plus a cassette player and speakers. The next level is just a slight upgrade from the local end. This includes the discount audio system that came with the car and an extra pair of speakers. The next stage is an upgrade to include a CD player, amps, and more speakers. The next two levels are a bit excessive and high end. The next level is to install a booming sound system that will make the car tremble. The final level is the audio system which you can hear through out the neighborhood.
The second step is do research. A well educated consumer is the best weapon against over paying for equipment which you probably do not need. Often uneducated consumers do not know they are paying or equipment which is considered discount car audio equipment because they are told by the sales person they are higher end equipment. Familiarize yourself with what a head unit, amplifiers, mid rangers, tweets, crossovers, equalizers, and subwoofers. Learn how they interact with each other.
The third thing to consider is power. If you want more volume then you need more power. To get more power you will need to buy one or more amplifier. Combined with the right set of speakers, more power is associated with the vibration and bounce of a car while the music is on.
One disadvantage to going to a discount car audio route is your are going to deal with people who simply want to sell as many components as possible with out consideration for what is best for you the consumer. For those on a low budget and seeking a discount car audio system the cheapest way to increase the quality of your sound produced by your system is by adding a powered subwoofer that is self powered to whatever audio system is presently in your car. This allows the basic system to have increased mid and high ranges without over using your system. To do this you decrease the deck volume, and then increase the volume on the power woofer. This way the music feels loud but is not so loud that it pierces the ears.
